Experience is an amazing thing to have, especially because we can look back and take a closer look at some of the choices we made along the way. What if we were given a “do over”? Would we make a few changes? Nothing major, just some tweaks which may have served us well down the road? Though I’ve maintained a high level of fitness throughout my life, now that I’m 60 I’ve realized that a few exercises I didn’t find particularly important – or that didn’t make the cut into my usual routine – could have made a difference as my body is changing and “maturing” LOL!
In this video I highlight 5 areas of fitness/exercises that I wish I started in my 30s as I would be reaping the rewards of them now. Of course, it’s never too late to start something new, add new moves, and change our focus. I hope you enjoy the video and let me know if you do any of these things now, or what you wish you started earlier! Thanks for watching!

Mind Over Bladder is another video on the Benefit Yourself Series. This video will provide information on the relationship of pelvic floor muscles and the bladder, types of urinary incontinence and how to fix them.
The Pelvic floor muscles are always working and supporting the organs inside of you. They are located on the bottom of the pelvic girdle and control bowel and bladder and sexual appreciation. These muscles are always working and supporting the organs and keeping bowel and bladder continence and the bladder is always relaxed and accommodating urine. The only time the bladder should squeeze is when you are sitting on the toilet and voluntarily relaxing the pelvic floor muscles. But sometimes your bladder may become irritated and overactive and misbehave and give you urgency when is not completely full.
The 3 times of bladder issues the video will cover is:
Urge incontinence
Stress incontinence
Nocturia – nighttime urgency and voids
You will also find the strategies on fixing these issues. If you are wondering what they are you will have to watch the video to learn more.
Always remember, the video is intended to guide you on self-help, and reinforce the information you will hear from a pelvic floor physical therapist.
